Artworks available to view in Sydney
Agnes Tyson is a Sydney based visual artist. She was born and raised in New York City, USA. Her art practice focuses on painting and drawing. Her work primarily explores concerns of spatial relationships specifically relating to colour and line.
Place remains a central motif in Agnes’ work highlighting her interest in architecture. Her work frequently features significant milieux from childhood and her adult life spent in Europe, Asia, and Australia. Some works are executed on a large scale with the aim of encouraging viewers to physically engage with the work.
A defining character of her work derives from her particular integration of collage into the painting and drawing process. This process provides a means of simplification as well as adding a kinaesthetic element to her work.
